We are awaiting confirmation of delivery dates for our flu vaccines before we can arrange the dates of our clinics but expect to be holding them from mid-September onwards. We anticipate starting to book the appointments from mid-August but will advertise when the clinics are open for booking.
Initially these clinics will be for patients over the age of 65 or those who have been entitled to a flu vaccine in previous years due to a medical condition, being a carer or being pregnant.
The Government announced this morning that there will be new groups of patients who will be entitled to a free NHS flu vaccine this year. These include patients who have been shielding in the last few months and their household members. These patients will also be expected to be prioritised in to the earlier clinics and may already be in one of the previous flu risk groups. The Government also advised that any patient over the age of 50 should have a flu vaccination so further clinics are expected to be available at a later date.
GP Practices were made aware of these changes the same way patients were, by watching the news this morning. We are awaiting further information regarding the Practice’s role in providing these additional clinics and where the additional supply of vaccines will be coming from.
We also expect our flu clinics to run differently this year due to the social distancing requirements and work is currently being done to establish the best way of how to offer the clinics.
We will provide updates when we have more information.
