We are currently calling patients to book you in for your COVID vaccinations when it is your turn .
As you can imagine this is taking it's time, so we are in the process of introducing AccuBook; a service that will enable you to book your COVID appointment straight from your mobile phone!
Rest assured that our message will be signed as ‘ Horndean Surgery ‘ & we will only ask you to confirm your date of birth. We will definitely not ask you for any payment or any other personal details.
If you do not have a mobile phone, please do not worry as we will continue to call you and book your appointment in the usual way.

We are all excited to hear about the progress of the rolling out of the Covid vaccine and look forward to this improving the quality of life for all of us.
We know that you, like us, are struggling with the confines imposed upon us all due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Everyone is trying to make the best of the situation and, as a practice, we are committed to caring for you in the best possible way whilst keeping both you and our team safe.
To keep you as informed as possible, we will update these messages frequently as we become aware of more information from NHS England:
- There are now two vaccines available to protect patients – Oxford/AstraZeneca and Pfizer-BioNTech.
- Another vaccine (Moderna) has been licenced and will be available later on in 2021.
- The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) have emphasised that it is best for patients to get their second dose 12 weeks after their first vaccine. There is a high level of protection afforded by the first dose
- By vaccinating a greater number of people with a single dose, more deaths and hospitalisations will be prevented.
- Please do not contact the surgery nor the hospital to seek a vaccine, we will contact you when the NHS has instructed us to
- With the current rapid increase in Covid-19 cases it is even more important to:
wash your hands > wear a face mask as advised > keep 2 metres apart
COVID VACCINATION PROGRAMME New cohort: We are pleased to announce we are now inviting patients aged 75 years and over!
It won’t be long until we move onto the subsequent cohort which is the over 70s, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable.
We kindly ask patients to refrain from contacting us in the meantime to enquire, as we will be in touch with ALL eligible patients in due course so please bear with us at this extremely busy time.
Please note the second vaccination is being given as per the government guidelines which is up to 12 weeks following the first, again we will be in touch with everyone to book this in at the right time.

COVID-19 Vaccination - A guide for adults
Flu vaccinations for patients aged 50-64
As you may have heard in the news on 20th November 2020, adults between the ages of 50 and 64 are now able to get their free flu vaccine from their GP or local pharmacy from the 1st December 2020. This in in line with the next phase of this year’s expanded flu vaccination programme.

SURGERY DOORS OPEN (Trial) - ONLY FOR PATIENTS WITH PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS
We still need to minimise the number of patients coming in to the Surgery to ensure social distancing can be observed.
Please continue to ring the surgery with any queries. With screens, masks and social distancing it makes it more difficult for queries to be dealt with at the reception desk. We also need to protect any patients attending appointments including those who are most vulnerable.
Please also continue to ring the surgery to book an appointment. Following national guidance all appointments, routine or urgent, are being conducted over the telephone initially and the Doctor will arrange a face to face appointment if clinically appropriate.
It is essential that no-one attends the surgery if they have any of the following symptoms:
- Continuous cough and / or
- High temperature and / or
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
If experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact 119 or visit www.nhs.uk to arrange a Covid test. Advice regarding symptoms can be obtained through 111 or www.nhs.uk.
Attending the surgery with any of these symptoms could lead to the surgery having to close for a period of time to arrange deep cleaning which will have a detrimental effect on the service we can provide to all of our patients.
We hope you will support us to ensure this trial is successful. If we do find patients continue to turn up at the surgery to discuss queries or book appointments we will have to consider closing the doors again.
Notice: Public Health England have advised us that some women are being contacted by text message, claiming to be from the call and recall service to advise they are overdue for screening. The message asks them to call a mobile number and provide personal details.
Please be aware that these messages are not from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme or from the practice. The Action Fraud Line has been contacted.
Like many organisations, we at Andover Mind are doing our best to respond to the ever changing situation facing us as a result of Coronavirus. The Carer Support and Dementia Advice Service for Hampshire continues to operate remotely and is accepting new referrals. Our staff are carrying out telephone assessments in replacement of face to face appointments and we are making contact via telephone welfare checks and emails to our known service users. Please be reassured that we will continue to do everything we can to help all carers and people with dementia or a long term health condition maintain their well-being at this time.
